LMUD’s Historic Marker Unveiling
February 12, 2020, 10:00 am - 11:00 am
— Free2020 marks LMUD’s 48th year of service to the Lakeway community. We are honored to be recognized this year by the City as a historically significant entity with the installation of a Lakeway Historical Marker at our district office. The unveiling of the marker is open by invitation only to City staff and elected officials, members of the local media, and City Heritage Committee members.
We welcome all Lakeway residents to stop by anytime throughout the year, starting February 13th, to view and read the commemorative plaque as well as meet our staff during regular business hours.
Residents can visit key Historical Marker sites throughout Lakeway during the annual Heritage Trail Tours, sponsored by the Lakeway Heritage Committee. Dates for 2020 coming soon. See post here for an overview of the 2019 tour.

Founded in 1972, Lakeway Municipal Utility District (LMUD) provides vital water, wastewater, and recycled water services to over 10,000 residents and business owners in the Lakeway community. This includes maintenance of extensive infrastructure, including Lakeway’s iconic golf ball water tower. In 2020, Lakeway's Heritage Committee honored LMUD with the installation of a Lakeway Historic Marker at their district office, recognizing LMUD as one of the first MUDs in Texas and the first utility company in Lakeway. LMUD also developed one of the state’s first innovative approaches to water conservation with a water reuse system to irrigate Youpon Golf Course, which is now extended throughout the city.
