Required professional licenses must be obtained from a TCEQ-accredited school. Employees are responsible for maintaining the required valid license(s) for their position. Training will be paid for by the company and can be completed during work hours.


POSITION DESCRIPTION

Class Title: Maintenance Worker II

Reports to: Field Operations Supervisor

FLSA: Non Exempt

Summary of Position:

Working under general supervision as part of a crew, responsible for the construction, repair, and maintenance of LMUD’s water distribution and wastewater collection systems in a safe, effective, and efficient manner in order to protect public health and safety while ensuring compliance with industry safety and code standards.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Install, maintain, and repair the water distribution and wastewater collection systems, including water and wastewater mains, meters, pumps, valves, manholes, lift stations, fire hydrants, and related infrastructure in compliance with applicable safety and code regulations, policies, and standards.
  2. Routinely operate equipment including backhoes, dump trucks, front end loaders, trenchers, jackhammers, mowers, and other heavy equipment as required for routine and emergency operation and repairs.
  3. Cross train in operations of various equipment.
  4. Read meters, locate lines, paint, trim trees and mow, set meters, adjust meter boxes.
  5. Perform routine maintenance on equipment according to established procedures as directed by supervisor or team lead.
  6. In the absence of the crew lead, has knowledge to lead crew.
  7. Maintain field office and warehouses by way of dusting, sweeping and mopping floors, disposing of trash.
  8. Perform a variety of duties involved in the cleaning of tools, equipment, and vehicles.
  9. May provide functional supervision of a Maintenance Worker in training.
  10. Perform such other related duties as may be assigned.

Entry Level Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two (2) years’ minimum related experience including knowledge of safety practices and procedures related to general construction activity
  • Valid Class D Water Distribution License or ability to obtain within one (1) year of employment.
  • Knowledge of Work Zone equipment, safety, and procedures.
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License with a good driving record or the ability to obtain prior to employment.

Working Environment & Schedule:

Working under continual supervision as part of a crew, serves as on-the-job trainee for the construction, repair, and maintenance of LMUD’s water distribution and wastewater collection systems in a safe, effective, and efficient manner in order to protect public health and safety while ensuring compliance with industry safety and code standards. Also responsible for unsupervised lawn maintenance.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Assist experienced maintenance workers to:

  1. Install, maintain, and repair the water distribution and wastewater collection systems, including water and wastewater mains, meters, pumps, valves, manholes, lift stations, fire hydrants, and related infrastructure.

Reports to: Wastewater Plant Operations Supervisor
FLSA: Non Exempt Position

Summary of Position:

Responsible for operating, monitoring, maintaining, and trouble-shooting the LMUD wastewater treatment facilities, lift stations, and recycled water retention ponds and irrigation systems. Work involves responsibility for the technical aspects of wastewater department operations in compliance with applicable safety and code regulations, policies, and standards. Work is performed with considerable independence under the direction of the Wastewater Plant Operations Supervisor, subject to review through reports and results achieved.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Perform all aspects of running the wastewater treatment plants, including sampling, monitoring, testing and making all necessary adjustments required to comply with applicable safety and code regulations, policies, and standards.
  2. Monitor inflow and infiltration to lift stations; perform all lift station maintenance needs, including scheduled pumpings, refilling chemical feeds, and mechanical and electrical components of control panels; monitor commercial grease traps to confirm adherence to pumping schedule.
  3. Monitor and maintain recycled water retention ponds and distribution systems.
  4. Perform preventative and corrective maintenance and repair of the physical equipment, machinery, and other components associated with wastewater department systems.
  5. Maintain thorough and complete process records and logs; may be assisted by use of SCADA system.
  6. Provide on call response to emergencies and breakdowns at the plant and lift stations.
  7. Conduct the necessary weekend checks of the treatment plant on a rotating basis.
  8. Maintain open communications with the department supervisor regarding workload operations and malfunctions; make recommendations for repairs and improvements to these systems.
  9. May provide functional supervision of a Wastewater Operator in training
  10. Perform such other related duties as may be assigned.

Entry Level Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three (3) years’ minimum experience in wastewater operations
  • Valid minimum of Class C Basic Wastewater License
  • Valid Class C Texas Driver’s License with good driving record

Position provides operation and maintenance of two wastewater plants with a combined capacity of 1.5M gdp, three seasonal reuse storage ponds which total 97 mg, and 23 lift stations. The Conventional Activated Sludge treatment plants use gravity thickeners, anaerobic digester, a belt press for sludge removal, and Sodium Hypochlorite as a disinfectant. It is desirable that qualified candidates have operational experience with a similar operation. Experience with SCADA systems and lift stations preferred.
