LMUD wins 2nd Place in Category for 4th of July Parade

Lakeway MUD (LMUD) was honored to receive second place in the “Large Business” category for the decoration of our vehicles in this year’s Lakeway 4th of July parade! In its 44th year, this parade was one of the best attended, featuring a record 140 entrants who walked, rode, danced, and celebrated their way down the parade route. Dubbed Lakeway’s “biggest celebration of the year”, families lined the streets cheering while kids raised their hands high for candy and other goodies that were tossed to the crowd. The parade started promptly at 8:30 AM from the Live Oak Golf Course Driving Range at 510 Lakeway Drive, meandering down Lakeway Drive to the Lakeway Activity Center at Cross Creek Road and ending at Lakeway Church. This year’s theme: Fly Me To The Moon: One Small Step For a Man, One Giant Leap For Mankind celebrating the 50th anniversary of the first manned moon mission. Starting at 10:00 AM, immediately following the parade, participants and attendees were invited to the Lakeway Activity Center where they could meet Grand Marshal, Astronaut Capt. Kenneth Cockrell U.S. Navy, Ret., and enjoy a hot dog and some music, sponsored by the City of Lakeway.

A big thank you to all participants, volunteers, staff, and attendees. Congratulations to all of this year’s winners!
