Updates: Winter Averaging in Effect, Vote, Donations
We hope you are enjoying the cooler weather! A tip: Turn off your sprinklers from November-February! Your grass goes dormant over the winter, so there is no need to water. Use the downtime to upgrade your irrigation system. LCRA offers Lakeway MUD (LMUD) customers’ rebates to help with the cost. Details: lcra.org/water/watersmart/rebates.
Winter Averaging in Effect Nov. 1, 2025
New Wastewater Rates Start on Dec. 2025 Bill
Did you know that while your water use is metered, your wastewater is not? To calculate wastewater charges, Lakeway MUD uses a method called Winter Averaging, which takes place each year from November through February. Because outdoor watering is minimal during these colder months, this period gives the best snapshot of how much water is used indoors โ and therefore sent to our treatment plant for processing. Your wastewater rate for the next year, starting on your December bill, is based on your lower-use bill cycle (Nov.& Dec. or Jan.& Feb.) during this timeframe. TIP: any water use you can minimize during this timeframe can help reduce your wastewater costs for the following 12-months. Winter Averaging applies only to wastewater; your potable water charges will continue to vary each billing cycle based on actual usage. Watering Restriction Enforcement
Max. 2-Days Per Week, Permanent Restrictions to Minimize Water Waste
Lakes Travis and Buchanan are our regionโs water supply reservoirs and currently hold about 1,748,359 acre-feet of water or 88% capacity, according to the LCRA River Operations Report. As this capacity changes, our watering restrictions adjust. Lakeway MUD currently enforces a max. of two-days of automatic irrigation per week. Water waste or negligence is prohibited and can be enforced at all times. For additional details, visit: lakewaymud.org/customers/irrigation-schedule.

November 4, 2025 is Election Day
Consider Voting FOR Proposition 4 and the Texas Water Fund

The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) 2025 Texas Infrastructure Report Card gave the stateโs drinking water systems a D+ and wastewater systems a D-, citing aging facilities, frequent leaks, and limited investment in upgrades. As you consider your choices in the upcoming election, we encourage you to consider that Proposition 4 represents an opportunity to address Texasโs pressing water needs with a long-term solution that matches the scale of the challenge.
