Lakeway MUD Moves to Stage 1 Water Restrictions

LAKEWAY, Texas—Effective immediately, the Lakeway Municipal Utility District (District) water restrictions have eased from Stage 2 drought restrictions to Stage 1, indicating only mild water shortage conditions.

“We are grateful to the customers of the Lakeway Municipal Utility District for their cooperation during this year’s serious drought,” Richard Eason, General Manager of the District, said. “Although we aren’t completely in the clear, conditions have improved considerably and we are pleased to move from mandatory to voluntary water use guidelines.”

Commercial, association and other large irrigation consumers, as well as individuals, are encouraged to be aware of demands on the system and make reductions where possible. The goal is a five percent total reduction in daily water demand.

As the weather cools down, the District encourages consumers to insulate pipes and fittings to prevent freezing rather than leaving faucets running or dripping.

The following irrigation schedule is encouraged.

Residential
Odd-numbered addresses: Wednesdays and Saturdays
Even-numbered addresses: Thursdays and Sundays

Commercial
Tuesdays and Fridays

Irrigation after 10 a.m. and before 7 p.m. is prohibited to reduce evaporation.
