Highlands Service Area Expansion

Lakeway Municipal Utility District (Lakeway MUD) is pleased to announce that, effective September 1, 2026, we will officially assume responsibility for water and wastewater service for Travis County MUDs 11, 12, and 13 customers.

This strategic transition marks a significant step in unifying water services across the Lakeway region and ensuring long-term sustainability and reliability for current and future residents.

To support the expanded service area, Lakeway MUD, with financial investment from Crossroads Utility Services, the managers of Travis County MUDS 11, 12, and 13, is investing in critical infrastructure improvements, including:

  • Expansion of LMUD’s existing water treatment plant and wastewater treatment plant to increase capacity and improve system efficiency.
  • Construction of a new water tower, enhancing storage capabilities and supporting consistent water pressure throughout the service area.

“Lakeway MUD is committed to delivering high-quality, reliable service to every customer we serve,” said Earl Foster, General Manager of Lakeway MUD. “This service expansion allows us to bring our proven service model to more residents while continuing to manage our resources responsibly.”

Importantly, customers in Travis County MUDs 11, 12, and 13 will transition to the same service rates currently in place for LMUD In District customers, helping ensure fairness and predictability in billing.

Residents in the affected areas will receive additional information in advance of the transition, including details about account setup, billing procedures, watering restrictions, and customer support resources. LMUD also plans to host a series of informational meetings in 2026 to help facilitate a smooth transition.
