Being Kind to the Earth: An Earth Day Community Celebration

Families are invited to a free, hands-on Earth Day workshop, “Being Kind to the Earth,” on Saturday, April 12th, 2025 from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Lake Travis Community Library. Hosted by Barbara Achilles Minardi, lead educator at Reach for the Stars ATX, the organization behind the Super Leaders after-school program, this event will inspire the leaders of tomorrow to take action in caring for the planet while learning about the vital role of water conservation in our community.
Special guest Stephanie Threinen from Lakeway MUD will give a kid-friendly presentation on how we can help conserve water and protect this vital resource for future generations. Additionally, Shannon Hamilton from the Central Texas Water Coalition will be on-site to help us understand where our drinking water comes from and ways we can be kind to our broader Central Texas community.
Children will also enjoy engaging activities such as making rain gauges, decorating reusable tote bags, creating water cycle models, and building with endless bricks at the Bricks & Minifigs Bee Cave play table that emphasizes the 3 Rs—Rebuild, Reuse, and Reimagine®—inspiring creativity and reinforcing the importance of sustainability.
No registration is required, but RSVPs are appreciated to help with planning.
Families who RSVP in advance and attend will be entered into a raffle with prizes from local businesses, including Austin Zoo, Austin Tea Exchange, Pikopye’s Town, Bricks & Minifigs Bee Cave, and more!
