Elevation Athletic Club Grand Re-Opening Event

September 28, 2019

The Elevation Athletic Club’s new Performance Studio features ropes, punching bags, slam balls, jump boxes, etc. to cater to High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) or functional cardio classes. Photo courtesy The Hills of Lakeway Country Club

The World of Tennis has a rich history in Lakeway, dating back to 1973, just 10 years after the city was founded. Between 1974 and 1980, the Club hosted several major professional tennis tournaments. Tennis legends such as Jimmy Connors, Rod Laver, Billie Jean King, Chris Evert, and Martina Navratilova competed on the stadium court during these early years. More recent history added the additional benefits of fitness and social amenities, making the Club a hallmark of the private club tradition for the whole family. Now rebranded as Elevation Athletic Club, the current owners, ClubCorp, recently renovated the Club to offer members the latest technological advancements and specializations in personal fitness. With renovations complete, the Club hosted their grand re-opening event on Saturday, September 28 from 11am to 1pm. Stephanie Threinen, LMUD’s Public Information Liaison took a tour of the facility from the Club’s membership director, Kim Dean.

The multimillion-dollar investment to the Club included rejuvenating the tennis facilities, refining dining spaces, and enhancing fitness facilities. Reiterating information found on the Club’s website, Dean said, “Our programming includes USTA, WTTA and ATL team tennis as well as many opportunities to participate in IntraClub league play, social mixers, and competitive tournaments. Our facility features 16 outdoor courts – 12 lighted for evening play – and two climate-controlled indoor courts. A full-service fitness facility, locker rooms, snack bar outlet and pool complete the complex.”

Most notable at the grand re-opening event was the addition of specialized performance studio space featuring classes such as heated yoga, Pilates, and Boot Camp. The new Performance Studio was a big hit with active men, women, and kids, featuring ropes, punching bags, slam balls, jump boxes, etc. to cater to High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) or functional cardio classes. A lower level houses personal training space and a cycling room.

“We were particularly glad to see the addition of water bottle filling stations at the drinking fountains throughout the facility,” said Threinen. “We hope residents trust the tap water we provide and avoid the use of disposable water bottles as often as possible.”

During the re-opening event, pizza, popcorn, snow cones, and cookies were provided as well as face painting and balloon making to the delight of the kids of prospective members in attendance.

Elevation Athletic Club is just one of the several facilities ClubCorp owns throughout the city. Membership at the Club also includes access to amenities from Live Oak Clubhouse and Golf Course (set for a grand re-opening late October), Youpon Clubhouse and Golf Course, The Hills Clubhouse and Golf Course, and Flintrock Falls Clubhouse and Golf Course. The World of Tennis Sports Complex, Live Oak Clubhouse and Golf Course, and Youpon Clubhouse and Golf Course are all locations serviced with water by LMUD.
